How to Brew

Add 1–2 teaspoons of Guinea Hen Weed to 2 cups of boiling water. Simmer on low for 10–15 minutes, then strain. Sweeten with honey or cane sugar if desired, and enjoy warm. The same batch can be re-steeped once for a lighter second cup.

The Herb

Known botanically as Petiveria alliacea and also called Anamu, Guinea Hen Weed is a perennial herb native to the tropical regions of the Caribbean and Central America. It has been used in traditional Caribbean herbalism for centuries and remains one of Jamaica's most recognized and respected medicinal plants.
